Yesterday, I got the new Smarthome catalog in the mail. I’m in full-fledged home automation gadget lust! On top of that, I just discovered my home automation server, Indigo, has released the first public beta of version 6. In addition to a few UI enhancements and new INSTEON devices, the big new thing is Z-Wave support. Continue reading
Hahaha. This is awesome. DAM News has picked up and mentioned my post about Metadata and Voting I wrote on my DAMagedWorkflow blog.
Andrew Mannone has written this post on his own Damaged Workflow blog with a topical twist (for those that follow the US elections, at least) where he adapts the ”Vote early, vote often” message to “Tag early, tag often”

Election Night Win
What a night. Mittens goes down, POTUS back for four more years and Warren going to replace Senator Centerfold.
Knock on the door
Sunday afternoon Jay and I were sitting in the office and we heard a knock on the door. Given that hardly anybody just “drops by” apartment seeing as you need to be buzzed into the building, Jay and I shot each other a puzzled look.
The two of us had slept in that day and even though it was past 2:00, we were sill in our PJs. I was a little hesitant to go answer the door in my crazy-bed-hair state, but curiosity got the best of me. So, I headed down. As I got to the stair well, I called out “Hello?” before I opened the door. (It would be nice if we had a peephole.) A young woman’s voice returned and said. “Hi, I’m Allie* [see note below] and I’m with the Massachusetts Democratic Party” This was my first time getting a visit from the get-out-the-vote machine since college. The door swung open: suddenly I didn’t care I a looked like a hot mess. Continue reading
Best Endorsement Ever
Joss Whedon has come out to endorse Mitt Romney late in the 2012 election cycle. With just a few days left to Election Day, it remains to be seen how Whedon’s endorsement will sway the uninfected…
Mitt Romney is a very different candidate; one with the vision and determination to cut through business-as-usual-politics and finally put this country back on track for the zombie apocalypse. … The one percent will no longer be the very rich, it will be the very fast. Anyone who can run, fight, make explosives out of household objects or especially do barkour of any kind, you’ll wanna stick with them, unless they read Ayn Rand.
A Happy Halloween Google Doodle
Happy Halloween 2012 everybody. If you hadn’t yet seen (and played with) the spooky Google Doodle, go waste a few minutes clicking around. Now, normally I’m anti websites that play sounds without asking your first, but this is kinda cute so I’ll overlook it.

To mini or not to mini?
I love my original iPad, but it’s starting to look a bit long in the tooth. It would be nice to upgrade. Seriously want to use iPhoto and FaceTime on the iPad. Now that Apple released the iPad Mini, do I want it? Sure it looks nice and is lighter and slightly more on-the-go / commute / train friendly. But if I have my iPhone do I need the iPad Mini?
At the very least it looks cool. And the video shows Apple hottie Jony Ive. *swoon*
Is this thing on?!!
I’ve been wanting to set up a blog / personal website for eons. Now that it’s here… it feels foreign and not sure of what I’m going to write to fill the space. In some ways if feels like when I started using Facebook. But now that’s almost second nature.
